XTU Undergraduate Students’ Research Published on World-class Scientific Journal
Gong Zhenhao, an undergraduate student enrolled in the Shaofeng Experimental Class of the School of Physics and Optoelectronics in 2016, published a thesis on the world-class academic journal – Phys. Rev. B. on April 23, 2020. The thesis is titled Theoretical Prediction of a Low-energy Stone-Wales Graphene with Intrinsic Type-III Dirac-cone. This is the second thesis written by an undergraduate student of the class published on this journal.
Phys. Rev. B., published by the American Physical Society, is a scientific journal with international influence. It mainly publishes cutting-edge research on condensed matter physics. It is widely recognized and highly reputed in international physics circle.
The thesis was published on the 101 volume on April 23 (Phys. Rev. B. 101, 155427, 2020, https://link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/PhysRevB.101.155427). Gong Zhenhao is the first author, and Li Jin and He Chaoyu are corresponding authors. Their research was supported by the National Nature Science Foundation of China and the Innovation Team Program of the Ministry of Education.
The Shaofeng Experimental Class in physics is a top-notch professional cultivation reform pilot of Xiangtan University. Gong Zhenhao once won second prize of the national college student mathematical competition and second prize of Hunan’s college student physics competition, and was granted with Xiangtan University Scholarship for Basic Disciplines and the Shaofeng Scholarship. He has been admitted to the master’s program of the Southern University of Science and Technology without the need to take part in the national master’s entrance examination.
